The geothermal plant uses heat from a volcano in Costa Rica. This project is is an expansion of the 35MW Las Pailas I Geothermal Plant. Costa Rican Electricity Institute (ICE) will develop the project. The project is expected to increase Las Pailas geothermal power plant production with 410 GWh/a. The geothermal field was projected to have a potential capacity of over 150MW which would be developed over time
